We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Sanitation Supervisor to join our Quality Assurance team in Indianapolis. 

Job Summary:

The QA Supervisor is responsible for supervising and guiding sanitation staff with chemical procedures and safe chemical handling, overseeing scheduling and work assignments, and interacting with all levels of management regarding equipment in processing areas. The supervisor also maintains a clean and safe work area and keeps all production equipment contamination-free. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep the Standard Operating Procedures up to date and revise if necessary
  • Develop new sSOPs if new equipment is installed
  • Delegate work assignments and scheduling employees to optimize production and sanitation functions, as necessary. 
  • Ability to operate CIP’s on all processing equipment
  • Become the CIP Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the facility
  • Train new sanitation employees on procedures, chemical handling, and using PPE properly
  • Verify daily sanitation duties by performing post-op inspection
  • Perform equipment evaluation for cleanliness
  • Maintain a clean and contamination-free environment in processing areas.
  • Maintain chemical storage areas at all times.
  • Order, store, and distribute chemical supplies 
  • Maintain all forms for current cleaning procedures, add and revise as needed. 
  • Evaluate processes and methods and make appropriate recommendations to continuously improve methods, equipment performance, utilization of people, and quality of product and safety objectives
  • Acting as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems regarding production, quality, and work problems as appropriate.  
  • Ensuring the completion of all required production paperwork, including records, inventory, inspection, chemical verification, and sanitation reports. 
  • Maintain and educate staff on chemical handling and SDS. 
  • Verify monthly sanitation forms 
  • Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Address non-compliance with employees
  • Operate Forklift as necessary
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with Food Safety guidelines, procedures, rules and regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Education, Skills, and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, or a related field (Preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of chemicals and usages
  • Good organizational and safety skills
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • 2-5 years of Sanitation Supervision in a Food, Nutraceutical, or Pharmaceutical Operation
  • Strong knowledge of CIP Procedures
  • GED 

Working Conditions/Environment: 

  • Production floor and office settings with exposure to manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and handle production equipment and materials safely.
