Under the direction of the Director, Clinical Education and Nursing Professional Development, the Clinical Nurse Educator will assist in the design, development, implementation, and facilitation of clinical training programs. The Clinical Nurse Educator will provide evidenced-based education and evaluation that enhances patient safety and outcomes. The Clinical Nurse Educator will collaborate with unit-specific leadership to promote professional clinical competency for nursing and non-licensed staff in the Hospital. The Clinical Nurse Educator will serve as a clinical expert, educator, and mentor for assigned areas.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the educational planning process and prioritizes and individualizes educational content to a target audience.
- Participate in the creation, development, and execution of new hire clinical orientation.
- Participate in the development and management of unit staff competencies and education.
- Design educational activities that are evidence-based, creative, and meaningful.
- Utilize educational design models for creating meaningful education.
- Identify learning needs and opportunities for improvement on the unit and provide education for skill enhancement and understanding.
- Collaborate with others to support education, professional growth, and practice change throughout the department.
- Utilize the Donna Wright Competency Model.
- Develop and coordination education and job aides to support the use of new equipment.
- Research current issues and trends and validate identified educational needs with key stakeholders to build relevant learning curriculums.
- Participate in research and disseminate findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must demonstrate considerable knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures; healthcare laws and regulations; medical diagnoses and procedures; accepted medical treatment patterns; inpatient and transitional nursing care principles, practices, and procedures; and program regulations and procedures.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records. Ability to interpret and incorporate policies, protocols, and procedures into clinical practice.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication.
- Knowledge of adulty learning theories. Strong critical thinking and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft office (word, power point, excel).
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
Company
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
