Position Title: People & Culture Generalist
Location: 25 Elm Place, Brooklyn, NY
Benefit Classification: Full-Time Benefitted

We are seeking an experienced People & Culture Generalist to support the Retail, Mission Services and Administrative Divisions. As a member of the People & Culture Team, this role is responsible for supporting all people processes including but not limited to Recruitment, Benefits Administration, Employee Relations, HRIS Management, Leaves Of Absence, Onboarding and Orientation, Performance Management, etc. The successful candidate will be highly organized, demonstrate initiative, have strong attention to detail, and a desire to learn and grow through hands-on experience. The Awesome Things You’ll Do
- Support to ensure a positive experience through the full employee life-cycle, from recruitment through exit.
- Manage the full recruitment process, including attending recruitment events, managing job postings, sourcing candidates, screening & interviewing, facilitating the selection and hiring process and processing background checks.
- Maintain a high standard of data integrity and accuracy in our ADP Workforce Now Human Resource Information System while processing transactions such as new hire activations, employee changes, terminations, transfers, LOA, performance management, etc.
- Act as a liaison with the company’s authorized Administrator for Leaves of Absence, Accommodation Requests and Worker’s Compensation.
- Provide counseling to employees regarding policies and procedures, benefits, time off, etc.
- Proactively address and resolve employee relations issues, providing guidance to managers and supporting the documentation of performance-related actions as necessary.
- Assist with hosting New Employee Orientation (NEO)
- Conduct Stay and Exit Interviews and analyze results to make recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Work closely with the Senior leadership of People & Culture Team to assist with ensuring that employees are compliant with HR policies and state and federal requirements.
Activities are subject to change / be added to meet business needs with management approval.
Our Must Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- A minimum of three years of human resources experience required, preferably with an emphasis on recruiting and employee relations
- Working knowledge of State (New York and New Jersey) and Federal labor laws required
- Key skills include communication, problem-solving and organization.
- Proficiency working with HRIS, APR Workforce now or Dayforce preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster trust and collaboration with employees.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must have excellent judgement and be able to make quick, thoughtful decisions.
- Requires honed customer service and conflict-resolution skills
- Must be able to work onsite at least two days per week and travel to various GW locations throughout NY and NJ.
