Job Summary:
The Bench Technician’s position provides maintenance, service, and support for every aspect of computer hardware, software, networking, and telephony equipment. The person in this position will perform general technical support functions, including physical installation, assembly, configuration, diagnostics, and maintenance of the personal computers, business computers, servers, and networking equipment. While working under the supervision of the Integration Manager, this person will work with a great deal of independence to establish daily and weekly work order priorities and perform related work as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems, software, and hardware
- Assemble and set up computers, servers, monitors, network infrastructure, and peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.)
- Pull, rewire, or direct rewiring of network cables as needed
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware, software, email, network, and peripheral issues
- Diagnose and replace internal computer components
- Manage return process for defective equipment to vendors or manufacturers
- Provide technical assistance and help desk support to resolve equipment and data issues
- Serve as escalation support for other Bench Technicians
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills:
- Completion of two years of college-level coursework in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR
- Two years of experience in general computer installation, maintenance, and repair OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential job duties.
- Basic knowledge of hardware components, assembly, and troubleshooting
- Ability to perform software diagnostics and apply updates/patches
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in repairs/documentation
- Good customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Certifications:
- CompTIA A+ certification (required) OR
- CompTIA Server+ certification or equivalent (required)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (must be maintained)
