Status: Full Time 

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Cultural Resources Specialist to join our Cultural Resources team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing cultural resources in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires expertise in archaeological fieldwork, cultural resource assessments, and compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), particularly Section 106.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct background research, field surveys, site testing, and evaluations of historic and archaeological resources.
  • Author technical documents and assist Principal Investigator in preparing research designs, background assessments, and cultural resources reports.
  • Lead or participate in pedestrian surveys, site delineations, intermittent shovel testing, soil auguring
  • Navigate utilizing field map, compass, or handheld GPS.
  • Prepare detailed, daily field and monitoring notes.
  • Prepare archaeological and historic resources documentation in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and requirements.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on environmental and infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain detailed field notes and artifact logs; ensure proper curation of materials in accordance with applicable guidelines.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field with prior coursework in, or demonstrated knowledge of archaeology, prehistory, and history.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant cultural resource management (CRM) experience.
  • 1-3 years of technical writing experience.

Additional Information: 

  • Ability to travel regionally for field assignments, sometimes in remote or rugged terrain.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to walk up to 8-10 miles per day in difficult terrain and extreme weather while carrying a 20-pound pack
  • Demonstrated work reliability
