Kitchen Manager
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for executing the operations of the kitchen, ensuring prompt and high-quality meal service. Under the direction of and with collaboration with the Executive Chef, the Kitchen Manager helps to oversee the daily dining experience at our Asheville campus with a focus on celebrating good nutrition and community. The position assists with the administrative aspects of the dining program, including menu planning and ensuring staffing for all meals.
Location: Asheville, NC
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday 8-5 pm
- May need to flex for some weekend coverage for vacation coverage
Pay: Starting at $44,000 and increases based on experience
Responsibilities:
- Prepares a Mediterranean-inspired menu that focuses on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, along with lean meat, fish/seafood, and vegetarian protein options
- Collaborates with the Integrative Wellness Specialist on weekly menus and specific dietary needs of individual residents
- Hires, schedules, and supervises kitchen staff
- Communicates necessary information between the kitchen team and other departments
- Maintains inventory of both food and non-food items
- Provides safety education and training materials for all kitchen staff
- Supports the Sous Chefs with preparing meals and ensuring timeliness
- Ensures kitchen equipment is in good working order
- Ensures cleaning, Serve-Safe certification, and health code guidelines are met
- Provides accommodations for special events
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and/or at least 3-5 years of experience on-the-job training in the culinary arts
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment with health and safety oversight
- Supervision experience preferred
