🕒 Schedule: Exempt, Min 40 hours per week | No Holidays or Weekends!
Department: Spiritual Life Travel between Muskegon and Holland Center.
Travel: Travel between the Muskegon and Holland PACE centers as needed to support participants.
🎯 What You’ll Do in This Role:
The Spiritual Health Specialist supports participants in the PACE program as they explore and nurture their spirituality, beliefs, values, and sense of meaning—whether religious, secular, or philosophical. This role is grounded in neutrality, cultural humility, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring every individual is treated with respect and dignity. The Specialist offers presence and guidance during life transitions, grief, and end-of-life, while also helping to coordinate spiritual and emotional support
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group sessions that encourage participants to reflect on personal meaning, values, and beliefs, honoring all worldviews.
- Maintain a neutral, inclusive approach that supports participants from diverse cultural, spiritual, and identity backgrounds.
- Support participants and families through illness, grief, and end-of-life transitions.
- Facilitate conversations to address family conflicts while keeping the participant’s preferences and rights central.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary PACE care team to integrate spiritual well-being into individualized care plans.
- Connect participants with community or faith resources aligned with their beliefs and values.
- Lead inclusive workshops, reflection circles, and activities accessible to participants of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to socially isolated participants or those nearing end-of-life.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions.
- Document all encounters and interventions in accordance with program policies and regulations.
✅ What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, social work, psychology, religious studies, humanities, education, or a related field.
- Training or experience in grief support, palliative care, and end-of-life accompaniment.
- Proven skills in conflict resolution, mediation, or family meeting facilitation.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural humility.
- Strong active listening, communication, and boundary-setting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Bilingual abilities.
- Experience in a PACE program, hospice, or other interdisciplinary care setting.
- Experience supporting older adults and individuals from diverse cultural, spiritual, and identity backgrounds.
