Position Overview

Greenwood High School is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper to join our administrative team starting in October. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the accurate management of school funds, processing payments, maintaining financial records, and providing exceptional support to the principal and school staff.

Key Responsibilities

(Other duties may be assigned)

• Enter invoices for payment and ensure timely vendor payments.

• Prepare, print, and distribute checks.

• Perform regular computer backups to safeguard financial data.

• Review and post cash receipt vouchers, claims, and revenue.

• Set up expense and revenue accounts, review budget postings for accuracy.

• Prepare statements of miscellaneous revenue and lists of refunds or voided checks.

• Balance the school’s general ledger and post necessary adjustments.

• Prepare and post journal entries as needed.

• Maintain daily cash balances and reconcile accounts monthly.

• Prepare special vendor checks upon request.

• Collaborate with auditors to reconcile account records at year-end and post audit-reversing entries.

• Provide general administrative and clerical support to the principal as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.

• Ability to handle large sums of money and manage multiple accounts.

• Experience interacting professionally with the public and staff in person and by phone.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.

• Proficiency in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

• Ability to interpret and follow policies, safety rules, and procedural manuals.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff, parents, and students.

Position Details

• Work Schedule: 240 days/year, 7.5 hours/day

• Salary: Grade 14 of the Clerical 12 Month Salary Schedule

• Location: Greenwood High School
