PURPOSE -


  • The position is responsible for the direction, organization, oversight and implementation of the Corporation’s Quality Hygienic Systems – Prerequisite/GMP programs at StarKist production plants.  
  • This position is in place to ensure the production of quality and safe products that meet our customers’ requirements.  
  • The position provides onsite oversight and support to the StarKist plant Quality Assurance Managers.  This position will interact with Co-manufacturers & Suppliers.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES – 

 

  • Develop and Implement Quality Policies and Procedures for the StarKist Business Unit.
  • Develop and Implement Quality Plans at each manufacturing site.
  • Provide direct oversight and support to the factory Quality Assurance Managers for their Hygienic programs: (Provide guidance to Co-manufacturers & Suppliers)
    • Sanitation programs
    • Pest Control programs
    • Employee Hygiene programs
    • Hygienic standards for infrastructure – buildings & grounds
    • Hygienic standards for new lines or new equipment
    • Hygienic zoning & Environmental monitoring 
    • Supplier Management Program
  • Assist in Quality System Audits of the StarKist Processing Facilities.
  • Coordinate with the plants to develop revised HACCP/prerequisite programs to meet new FDA recommendations. 
  • Assist production plants to implement Global Food Safety Initiative BRC Standards and complete third-party qualification audits.  
  • Conduct approval audits of new ingredients, packaging, materials, etc. vendors so that their materials may be used in StarKist’s products.
  • Conduct Quality System Audits of co-manufacturing and supplier facilities.
  • Troubleshoot hygienic issues identified by the plants, through environmental monitoring,  regulatory, internal or 3rd party audits.
  • Develop and monitor production plant Key Performance Indicators related to GMP’s.
  • Provide technical and scientific assistance to the production facilities.        

 

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES -   

 

  • Minimum 5-7 years of overall professional experience within the food processing industry with an emphasis in Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices/Pre-requisite programs. 
  • Must be able to travel by plane. Approximate travel is 25 - 30%. (includes international, passport required)
  • Must be capable of travel for extended periods. (extended: 5-7 days)
  • Preferrable, previous Quality Management roles in food manufacturing plants.
  • BS in Food Science and Technology or related fields with emphasis in Food Engineering, Food Processing and Microbiology.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control, digital process control principles and data collection.
  • Experience in quality hygienic systems; sanitation, pest control, environmental monitoring & employee hygiene 
  • Experience in development and implementation of GMP- Pre-requisite Programs.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to GMPs in food processing facilities.
  • Demonstrated prior success in achieving results using team driven philosophies.
