Located in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, the Children's and Teens Departments are a destination for youth of all ages. With a 2,000-square-foot StoryScape imaginative play center, bubbling saltwater and freshwater tanks, an impressive Reading Tower, and The Hive, an interactive learning center, our library space encourages children to learn, discover, and explore. Our robust collection of materials, vibrant programming, and well-established community partnerships reflect the diversity of the community we serve.
Branch Assistants in the Children’s and Teen Services Department create a welcoming and engaging environment for children, teens, and their caregivers. They assist with preparing materials for programs and crafts, help patrons find what they need, and support librarians in providing fun, educational, and creative library experiences..
This position is 40 hours per week and will include a mix of day, evening, and weekend hours. While this candidate may work in either the Children's or Teen departments, they will typically be stationed in the Children's department.
Successful candidates for this position are team players, adaptable, and passionate advocates for the library's role in serving youth, families, and caregivers in our community.
