We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Line of Business Leader to oversee our dry bean seed business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the Profit & Loss (P&L) of the business, ensuring efficient production management, overseeing operations, maintaining the quality of current and pursuit of new genetics, and driving sales growth. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the dry bean and/or seed industry.

P&L Management:
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve financial targets.
  • Monitor and manage the business's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.

 Production Management:
  • Oversee the entire production process, ensuring high-quality seed production to establish and maintain required varieties and pedigrees.
  • Implement best practices in production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

 Operations Oversight:
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including supply chain, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Optimize operational efficiency and productivity through planting, harvest, processing, treating and shipping.
  • Implement and maintain safety and quality control measures.

 Sales Oversight:
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to drive market growth and achieve sales targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new business opportunities.

 Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team focusing on exceeding quality expectations and reducing expense requirements to operate the business.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination across all departments including planning, operations, finance and corporate management.

 Business Management:
  • Manage and provide ownership of all aspects of the seed line of business.
  • Continuously expand the product line and develop new genetics to meet market demands.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role within the agricultural industry, specifically in seed production and sales.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing P&L.
  • Extensive experience in operations management, including supply chain, logistics, and inventory management and growth planning.
  • Proficiency in forecasting and financial planning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of dry bean/seed industry demands & regulations including best practices.
