Are you passionate about working with kids in a fun and creative environment? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the role of J Kids Counselor at the Stroum Jewish Community Center! As a J Kids Counselor, you will be responsible for planning and leading activities as well as ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the kids in J Kids programs. Working as a J Kids Counselor offers flexible scheduling with our variety of programs. Position pays $18.00 - $19.00 Per Hour dependent on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assume responsibilities for children under their care to ensure a positive and safe experience.
· Actively participate in and supervise activities during J Kids programming, including the pool.
· Plan and lead daily activities.
· Ensure that the spaces used for J Kids program(s) are cleaned before leaving.
· Support the emotional and social wellbeing of the kids through positive behavior management, supportive interactions and conflict resolution.
· Communicate regularly and appropriately with the rest of the J Kids staff team, both verbally and in writing.
· Ensure children get to where they need to go as directed by the J Kids management or other appropriate management.
· Check children in as they arrive to any J Kids program and check children out with an authorized adult.
· Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC
· Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
· Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.

Requirements
To be successful as a J Kids Counselor you should have:
- A current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children through an approved certifying body. (or willing to become certified)
- Experience and/or training working with children preferred.
- A customer-centric and collaborative attitude with a high level of empathy.
- Openness to learning
