Description

:  Provide on-site direct behavioral health care support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.  Provides oversight to home operations and performs duties in the areas of staff supervision, operational administration, home management, therapeutic intervention, teaching skills, documentation, Individual Habitation Plan and/or Service plan development. Responsible for providing daily structure and coverage to the residence, which includes supervision and assistance with living skills, personal care needs, case management, auditing medication, transportation service, crisis management, recreational and social activities. 

 

The Residential Manager communicates all significant behavioral changes in behavior level and notable incidents to the designated Supervisor.  The Residential Manager acts as a liaison, and advocates for the needs of the consumers.  The Residential Manager is also responsible for ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment and adhering to all safety standards, Federal and State regulations and corporate policies.  Ensures that services are rendered according to EIHAB’s mission and ethical standards.  The Residential Manager is required to cooperate with the Office of Licensing and Department of Human Services staff during inspections investigations.  The Residential Manager is required to report unusual incidents as outlined in Division Circular #14 and EIHAB policies.  Performs additional duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.

Qualifications


:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required. Education and Experience:  Employee must be 21 years of age.  Bachelor’s degree preferred in the areas of psychology, social work, special education with 2 years experience.  Experience working with individuals diagnosed with a developmental disability is preferred.  High School diploma or equivalent is required with three years experience.  Supervisory experience preferred.

 

Certification, License, Registration:  Driver’s license valid in the state of New Jersey, plus three years driving history and a driving record in good standing.

 

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:  Ability to read, write and communicate well.  Ability to document in the individual’s charts and service plans required.  Ability to do simple math required.  Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel a plus.  Knowledge of current principles and practices of behavioral healthcare, specific to the developmentally disabled population.

 

 

Physical Requirements:  All staff must be able to complete Crisis Management Training and implement Crisis Management techniques when needed at all times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, perform repetitive physical and mental activities, have face-to-face and telephone contact with individuals or teams, have telephone conversations, write letters and memos, use electronic mail, meet strict deadlines, work with others in a group or team, and work with external customers or the public. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Additional Requirements:  Successfully completes DDD Modules of Medication Administration, Overview of Developmental Disabilities, Abuse and Neglect and CPR/First Aid within 120 days of hire. Successfully completes training in agency approved procedure for handling life-threatening emergencies/Danielle’s Law and HIPPA training prior to working directly with the consumers. Maintains current CPR/First Aid and Mantoux requirements.  To maintain employment status, employee cannot be on the Central Registry for Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.
