We are seeking an Assistant Operations Manager for our Virginia Beach commercial roofing shop.
The Assistant Operations Manager supports the planning, directing, and coordination of the commercial roofing operations team. This position is responsible for assisting in ensuring and improving commercial roofing performance, productivity, efficiency, safety, and profitability of all ing operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies.
Job Functions:
- Assist in developing schedules and overseeing all aspects of construction.
- Communicate directives to Superintendents and Foremen for successful completion of contracts.
- Support quality control and safety management of projects.
- Review purchase orders, contracts, and proposals to verify intended scope of work and ensure company policies are not compromised.
- Assist in overseeing project management, including scheduling, production, and quality control.
- Help purchase materials as necessary and maintain department inventory and price material inventory slips. Monitor labor and material costs to increase revenue.
- Provide support in leadership for the roofing department, including teamwork, motivation, and positive employee relations.
- Assist in submitting budget and capital expenditure requests as needed.
- Work with prime and subcontractors on all phases of projects, including schedules, change orders, and submittals.
- Direct customer questions, complaints, and requests appropriately. Perform field inspections and investigations as necessary.
- Communicate, monitor, and facilitate information between the department and accounting.
- Liaise with top management and assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the commercial roofing industry
- Experience commercial roofing materials, techniques, requirements & customer relations.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Strong skills in planning and organizing, team-building, problem identification and resolution, multi-tasking, follow-through, priority setting, and a sense of urgency in accomplishing tasks in a timely manner.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Internet.
- Ability to communicate well both in writing and orally, including simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and interest.
