Monte Sano Research Corporation (MSRC) is a Huntsville-based Small Business specializing in providing full-spectrum defense system engineering, research, design, development, integration, test, evaluation, and planning services to the U.S. Government.

 

MSRC is seeking a highly motivated Research Chemist to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Research Chemist will provide technical expertise and support for energetics operations and testing to support aerospace, defense, and industrial programs.  In this role, the Research Chemist will collaborate closely with engineers, scientists, and R&D teams to ensure testing and evaluation are conducted to meet manufacturability, performance, and reliability requirements.

 Responsibilities include supporting energetic operations, designing support hardware, supporting testing activities and researching new designs or systems.  

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working with and around energetic materials including formulating and casting solid propellants.
  • Strong understanding of chemical principles and laboratory techniques.
  • Experience using planetary mixers with energetic materials.
  • Assembly and dissemble of energetics components 
  • Conduct independent research and experimentation on propellant chemistry and materials characterization.
  • Manage multiple research projects simultaneously, including planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with technicians, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project progress and timely completion.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations summarizing research findings to peers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of research activities and results.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in accredited Chemistry or scientific discipline required.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Active Secret DoD Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain Ammunition & Explosives Handler Certification
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
