Position Overview

Job Title: Pre-Apprenticeship Technical Trainer (seasonal)📍 Location: Coconut Creek, FL 33066🕒 Schedule: Hours will vary, up to 40 hours/week; M-F 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

🕒 Some evening and weekend hours are required.

💰 Pay: $38/hour📄 Position Type: Full-time | Seasonal

 

This is an In-Office position with some local travel required in Broward and south Palm Beach.

Your Role as Pre-Apprenticeship Technical Trainer:

As Pre-Apprenticeship Technical Trainer, you will be part of the JA Pre-Apprenticeship team which trains High School seniors and recent High School graduates for success by providing a work-based learning experience to fast track their careers. The Technical Trainer will work with the Pre-Apprenticeship Program Director, Program Manager, Student Success Coach and Business Engagement Manager to serve approximately 300 students in this program which currently focuses on construction, marine services, and water management careers.

 

This is a temporary position available through September 2025, although there may be additional opportunities after September 2025.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee industry-specific training schedules tailored to pre-apprenticeship pathways (construction, marine services, and water management).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records for all participants.
  • Design and implement innovative training methods that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with employers, industry experts, and program staff to ensure training content aligns with current workforce demands.
  • Manage and maintain training equipment and materials to support hands-on learning.
  • Integrate experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum, including simulations, labs, and real-world scenarios.
  • Support the planning and execution of program competitions, showcases, and related events.
  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness, making adjustments as needed to improve outcomes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Strong understanding of workforce development and industry-specific training needs, specifically in the areas of construction, marine services, and water management.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, hands-on technical training.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing schedules, records, and equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, employers, and partners.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for training delivery and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to adapt training methods to diverse learning styles and environments.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

 

Along with the above, we would also expect you to have:

  • An Associate’s degree or higher in education, workforce development, technical training, or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred) or technical certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in technical training, workforce development, or a related instructional role.
  • Experience working with youth or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with pre-apprenticeship or apprenticeship programs is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, driving, and occasionally required to reach, bend, lift, or climb.
  • Ability to lift and manage training equipment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during training sessions Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
