About the Department

Renton Technical College (RTC) is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Manufacturing Instructor to support the common core courses of our Advanced Manufacturing programs. This instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality, in-person instruction in classes like Manufacturing Essentials, Blueprint Reading, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Geometry, and Trigonometry. This position plays a key instructional support role across multiple pathways, including Welding, Mechatronics, Machining, and Engineering Technology.

Reporting directly to the Dean of Advanced Manufacturing, this instructor will teach a state-approved curriculum and work closely with industry partners and the program’s advisory committee to ensure training is aligned with workforce needs. This position provides daytime instruction, Monday through Friday.  In addition to teaching, the instructor will maintain regular office hours for student support, participate in professional development activities, and contribute to curriculum enhancement and student success initiatives.

This is a full-time faculty position represented by the Renton Federations of Teachers (RFT) Employees AssociationThe salary for this position is $94,503 - $112,865 annually. New hires are initially placed at step one on the salary scheduleFor more information on the RFT contract, please visit our website. This position is scheduled to begin Fall 2025, and continuation is contingent on ongoing funding. Position Duties

  • Demonstrate multicultural competence and foster an inclusive educational and workplace environment that supports equity, diversity, and the success of historically minoritized populations.
  • Provide instructional leadership to improve access and success for underrepresented student populations.
  • Effectively teach the adopted curriculum in all assigned subjects, including: Manufacturing Essentials, Blueprint Reading, GD&T, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
  • Evaluate student progress toward learning outcomes and support individualized learning needs.
  • Contribute to the development, revision, and alignment of curriculum to industry standards.
  • Collaborate with advisory committees and college administration to ensure program relevance and workforce alignment.
  • Maintain an engaging and inclusive classroom and lab environment conducive to learning and skill development.
  • Assist with recruitment and placement of students in relevant career pathways.
  • Participate in college faculty meetings and initiatives aimed at program improvement (commitments outlined in the RFT Contract).
  • Engage in professional growth through continuing education and industry engagement.
  • Support the college's mission by creating a learning environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking. Contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster a climate of multicultural understanding.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing, with college employees, departments and outside agencies.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in inclusive teams serving individuals from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment.
  • Strong foundation in manufacturing concepts, technical drawing interpretation, dimensional tolerancing, and mathematical concepts relevant to advanced manufacturing.
  • At least three years of relevant industry experience in advanced manufacturing, machining, or a closely related field. Industry experience in manufacturing, machining, or related trades preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting student achievement and workforce readiness.
  • Ability to integrate academic concepts with hands-on skills relevant to technical career pathways.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas LMS, instructional technology, and digital teaching tools.
  • Previous teaching or training experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus, particularly in Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, or Chinese

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working hours are aligned with general business hours Monday - Friday. Occassional weekend work is required. This position requires active engagement in classroom and lab settings, including standing for extended periods and demonstrating technical processes. Some sedentary work will be required for administrative tasks such as grading, communication, and curriculum planning. Work and meetings may take place across campus. May drive/travel to trainings, conferences, and/or college events. This is mostly an in-person/on-campus position; remote work may occur as business permits.

Degree Stipend:
Master’s or Doctorate degree stipends are paid annually.
