WAREHOUSE/DELIVERY WORKER
Purpose Statement:
The job of Warehouse/Delivery Worker is done for the purpose/s of receiving and delivering mail, supplies, materials and equipment to schools, offices, warehouses and other locations; receiving, inspecting and storing equipment and supplies ordered by the District; and assisting in the maintenance of warehouse inventory. Incumbents in this classification provide students and the staff with materials and services which in turn directly supports learning.
This job reports to Director, Purchasing
Essential Functions
• Loads/unloads trucks, electric carts, and related vehicles for the purpose of preparing materials and equipment for delivery.
•Maintains assigned vehicle (e.g. fuel, oil, tire pressure, cleaning, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe operation and sanitation of vehicle.
• Maintains warehouse facilities for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and orderly appearance and operation for receipt, inventory and distribution of equipment and supplies.
• Picks-up and delivers a variety of materials (e.g. mail, payroll checks, furniture, textbooks, instructional materials, classroom supplies, food stuffs, etc.) for the purpose of delivering services in conformance with department and District objectives.
• Prepares written materials (e.g. daily trip logs, invoices, purchase orders, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written support and/or conveying information.
• Processes documents and materials (e.g. business documents, packing slips, purchase orders, credits, etc.) for the purpose of verifying quantities and condition and/or disseminating items as needed.
• Receives incoming orders of supplies and equipment for the purpose of ensuring proper receipt of items delivered to the Warehouse, identifying and documenting any discrepancies, and verifying the condition of items received.
• Retrieves equipment and supplies from the warehouse as directed for the purpose of filling requisitions for items in stock.
• Stocks warehouse facilities for the purpose of replenishing inventory levels from incoming orders.
• Transports supplies and equipment (e.g. mail, payroll checks, furniture, textbooks, instructional materials, classroom supplies, food stuffs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accurate and timely delivery to District and out-of-District locations.
Other Functions
• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating forklift and other warehouse equipment; adhering to safety practices; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: procedures, forms and records of inventory control, purchasing, receiving and requisitioning; warehouse organization and security; health and safety regulations; California Motor Vehicle Code and safe driving practices; and local destinations and routes.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. In working with others, some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: understanding and following oral and written directions; working independently; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others; meeting schedules and time lines; planning and organizing work; maintaining routine records and preparing reports; and communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 33% sitting, 34% walking, and 33% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.

Comments and Other Information
It is important to note, to become an employee of Grossmont Union High School District, there will be a fingerprinting requirement that currently costs $72 (this is an up-front, out-of-pocket cost).
