Job Summary
The Shipping Material Handler is an hourly full-time position reporting directly to the Shipping Specialist – Floor Supervisor. This position requires working 100% onsite. The Shipping Material Handler will work with other shipping team members to ensure all orders are picked, packed and shipped accurately and on time.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with shipping office staff daily to obtain the necessary paperwork for picking and packing orders.
- Pick and pack all orders accurately via the use of a handheld RF scanner, forklift, and/or pallet jack.
- Label and tag all orders accurately.
- Following the shipping photograph procedures, take pictures of all picked/packed product via the use of handheld RF scanners.
- Make sure all product is properly packaged including but not limited to palletizing, strapping, and wrapping.
- Must clock into applicable pick/pack jobs daily.
- Communicate effectively with the Facilities Manager, Shipping Specialist (Floor Supervisor), and Shipping Specialist (Office Supervisor) to ensure product needed for shipments is available to ship complete and on time.
- Communicate effectively with shipping team members, as well as other members of the idX team to include but not limited to plant management, production management, inventory management, and receiving management.
- Maintain safety as a priority.
- Must follow all UFP policies and procedures as well as all shipping department policies and procedures.
- Maintain continuous education efforts for self, utilizing courses offered via Workday Learning.
- Emphasize continuous improvement, quality, waste reduction, and improving process efficiency through use of lean manufacturing principles.
Qualifications
- High school diploma / GED
- Prior forklift driving experience
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly
