Registered Nurse Team Lead – Full-Time (40 hours/week)


Ready to support a passionate nursing team and make a real impact on patient care? Rapid City Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse Team Lead to join our team. In this role, you will oversee and support the nursing and clinical support staff within a specific department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include consistently floating and shadowing each week within your designated team, supervising and mentoring staff, covering absences, and serving as a liaison between the nursing team and clinic management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direction, support, and guidance to nursing staff and other clinical personnel, through active engagement and participation on the clinic floor.
  • Float regularly to clinic teams to cover staffing as needed.
  • Ensure nursing staff and other clinical personnel have the necessary resources and support to perform their duties effectively. 
  • Participate in the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff.
  • Schedule staffing to meet changing workload needs, including ill-calls and vacations.
  • Mentor and support nursing & clinical support staff, providing guidance, and training. 
  • Serve as a point of contact between the clinic site team and clinic management, relaying information, addressing issues, and ensuring smooth communication. 
  • Foster a collaborative environment among the nursing and clinical team, promoting open communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. 
  • Provide professional and technical support to staff and troubleshoots the delivery of patient care. Respond to requests from patients and families regarding patient care issues.
  • Monitor clinical practices and identify areas for improvement to enhance patient care to be shared with management team for consideration.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


EDUCATION: Must be a practicing and licensed RN. Preferred, bachelor's degree in clinical field, e.g., BSN.


EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years of nursing experience. Preferred, 1+ years of leadership experience.


KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Knowledge of clinical and theoretical nursing/clinical processes and principles. Familiar with state and federal laws related to health care.
  • Knowledge of human resources management principles.
  • Knowledge of medical practice protocols and standards.


SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Skill in applying quality assurance techniques.
  • Skill in training staff, both new staff members and existing ones.
  • Skill in documentation of patient care including reviewing for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with many different levels of staff and physicians.
  • Ability to address and resolve conflicts effectively. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with nursing & clinical support staff and other managers, physicians, and administrative staff.
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify problems, and develop solutions. 


ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Work is performed in a combination of office and exam settings.
  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
  • Frequent contact with employees.
  • Frequent interruptions.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: 

  • Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling & assisting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Manual dexterity for using a computer keyboard. 
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
