Position Overview:
The Theatre Costumer is a creative and essential member of the Wabasha-Kellogg Theatre Department. This year-long stipend position supports multiple school productions, playing a leading role in the Fall Play and Spring Musical, and an advisory, behind-the-scenes role for other events as needed. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and enthusiastic about costuming students for memorable stage performances.

For these productions, the costumer is expected to:
Attend auditions to take measurements
Participate in production meetings
Be present during the final two weeks of rehearsals to assign costumes, make modifications, take notes, and coordinate volunteers
Advisory/As-Needed Support:
The costumer may be asked to help find, create, or modify costumes for the following events:
One Act Play (Minnesota State High School League)
Elementary Theatre Production
December Music Program (if costuming is required)
Note: The costumer is not expected to attend rehearsals for these productions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Costume Design & Sourcing
2. Rehearsal & Production Support
Attend tech and dress rehearsals for Fall Play and Musical
Assign and fit costumes
Make last-minute modifications and take production notes
Organize and oversee costume volunteers
3. Organization & Inventory Management
Maintain an organized and clean costume and prop storage area
Clean and return all costumes post-production
Reorganize or update the storage area as needed
Keep a log of all borrowed/lent items and ensure timely returns
4. Props Support
Assist in sourcing, creating, or organizing props as needed
Maintain prop inventory in conjunction with costume storage
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with costume design, sewing, or wardrobe management (preferred)
Excellent organization and time management
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Comfortable working with students in grades K–12
Creative, flexible, and detail-oriented
Compensation:
This is a stipend position for the full school year. Compensation is determined by the Wabasha-Kellogg Master Contract Schedule B (extracurricular pay scale).
