WAVE Substitute Homebound Teacher (Based in Ypsilanti/Milan)
SUMMARY:
The WAVE Substitute Homebound Teacher position facilitates learning gains 1:1 and in small groups with at-risk teenagers and ensures their success at earning a high school diploma. The WAVE Substitute Homebound Teacher supports the special education staff at WAVE in implementing individual student education plans and positive behavioral support services/programs for 1:1 students with emotional and/or behavioral disorders. This position involves assisting teacher consultants, with particular students in the WAVE lab and WAVE’s off-site location in Milan, Michigan, under the case manager’s direction. You will work collaboratively in a blended, project based learning educational setting with a presence remotely as well as occasional presence in our face-to-face lab with students guiding them in developing and completing curriculum projects that meet Michigan content expectations. In addition, collaboration will take place on a regular basis with other instructional staff. This position is year-round and follows the WAVE school calendar. This position has a flexible schedule to-be-determined based on the IEP goals of the student.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree

REPORTS TO: WAVE Program Director
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work collaboratively with teachers to instruct, supervise, and support students in the learning spaces
Collects information on and summarizes student progress toward achievement of IEP goals/objectives under the direction of case manager.
Assists in the development, maintenance and adaptation of instructional materials under the direction of classroom teachers and case managers.
Develop positive and friendly rapport and communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, district leaders, and community members
Provide educational information to parents and families, and community agencies
Any other duties delegated by the Program Director
Work one-on-one or in small groups with at-risk high school students.
Provide instruction and support in various subjects and assist students as needed.
Assist other staff in scheduling and advertising course support services and special events.
Help maintain the learning space (i.e., pick up used paper, put away inventory, etc.).
Attend required meetings, training, and participate in professional development.
Provide assistance during orientation days (depending on arranged schedule).
Guide students in the use of software applications.
Identify the interests and talents of the students to develop contexts in which they can expand their skills.
Encourage students to contribute to online learning communities.
Regular and predictable attendance.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
10-30 hours per week, with some flexibility in hours.
PAY: $22-$25 per hour. Hiring and pay through Edustaff.
SCHEDULE: TBD based on student IEP goals- minimum of 2hours per week, some flexibility based on needs
