Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

 

We are looking for a seasonal Control Room Operator II to operate and perform maintenance on machinery as required. . Ensures that Good Manufacturing Practices Policy (GMP’s), Safety and Health Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations are being followed. Willing and able to continue training in evaporation systems, flash cooling and hot breaks for future advancement and increased control room responsibility. This role will be responsible for documenting and recording required data for down time, problems, temperatures, and production, including any information relevant to the respected area t our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. This is a seasonal position supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understands the process flow of the specified machinery being operated (Hotbreaks, Fencos, Evaporators, or Flash cooler). 
  • Operates at least two- control room systems within the department (Hotbreaks, Fencos, Evaporators and the Flash Cooler).
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when performing Cleaning In Place (CIP’s) and operating machinery.
  • Ensures that product being produced by Evaporators and the Flash Cooler meet the specifications according to the Manufacture Standard Practices (MSP).
  • Ensures that proper levels and temperatures are recorded and remain within limits.

 

Requirements: 

  • At least 3 years of related experience and/or training in Evaporation or similar equipment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. 
  • Knowledge in the operation of at least two-control room systems; Hot breaks, Fencos, Evaporators, or Flash coolers.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and calculate mathematical functions to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to complete the Company forklift safety and training certification course and to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

 

Compensation: 

The hourly union wage is $22.65, with a 2nd shift differential of $.50 and a 3rd shift differential of $1.00.
