Title: Drama Club Advisor - High School
Reports To: High School Principal
Takes Direction From: Director of Student Activities, Building Principal, and Assistant Principals
Schedule/Calendar: Extra Duty position

Summary: The Drama Advisor will oversee all aspects of planning, organizing, and executing theatrical productions each school year. They include directing students, managing production logistics, collaborating with school staff, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for student performers and crew. The Drama Advisor also supervises and sponsors the Thespian Club and organizes various fundraisers, including the Broadway Cares Gala, to support the theatrical productions
This position typically involves after-school hours but may require additional evenings or weekends for rehearsals, performances, and events.
Essential Functions:
Supervises and sponsors the Thespian Club.
Plans and oversees various fundraisers, including the Broadway Cares Gala, to support the theatrical productions.
Collaborates with administration, faculty, custodial staff, and parent volunteers.
Provides a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for creative expression.
Mentors students in performance, technical skills, and stagecraft.
Encourages student leadership roles within the production.
Promotes teamwork, accountability, and confidence through the arts.
Supports student growth in collaboration, problem-solving, and public speaking
Provides a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel welcomed and encouraged to participate.
Manages fundraised money responsibly and for the intended purposes.
Communicates effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members.
Education and/or Certification Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Theater, English, or a related field.
Teaching certification in drama or a related area preferred.
Strong background in theater, including performance and pedagogy.
