Optim Medical Center Tattnall is seeking a PRN/Flex Shift Registered Nurse/ER for the Reidsville, GA location.

Primary Duties: 
1. Must be able to initiate an accurate ongoing patient assessment that begins with triage and continues throughout the patients ED visit.
2. Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients, and reassessments as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population. Provide assessment, evaluation, and treatments to orthopedic patients.
3. Ability to adequately assess, treat, and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
4. Assist patient in managing pain and the process to recover from a musculoskeletal disease or disorder.
5. Obtains EKG’s and demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias.
6. Must be able to document legibly, including proper computer documentation, and compile patient histories such as medical complaints, surgeries, prescription medications, allergies and prior immunizations.
7. Must be able to document tests, procedures, medications and any other treatments as well as outcomes in the patient record.
8. Assist provider with exams and procedures as needed.
9. Must have knowledge of sterile fields.
10. Responsible for carrying out and transcribing provider orders.
11. Will administer medications via all routes (IM, Subcutaneous, IV, PO, Rectally, Topically, Intradermally, and Inhalation).
12. Must possess excellent IV initiation skills.
13. BLS, ACLS is required, will participate in CODES, both cardiac and respiratory.
14. Familiarity with equipment used in the emergency department such as vital sign machines, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, glucose monitoring systems, IV pumps, suction, etc.
15. Will provide and document care to outpatients presenting for various procedures such as IV therapy, injections, wound care, and monitoring blood transfusions.
16. Will provide discharge instructions and teachings to patients.
17. Will facilitate patient transfers by preparing the patient, family and necessary documentation as well as assuring patient acceptance at receiving facility, giving and documenting patient report, and calling for transportation.
18. Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
19. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
20. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients.
21. Demonstrates knowledge of laboratory requirements, requisitions.
22. Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
23. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with emergency department standards.
24. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and will order supplies as the need arises.
25. Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
26. Ability to perform waived testing (point of care testing) per Clinical Laboratory’s and the ED’s policies and procedures.
27. Ability to interpret the results of waived tests; takes appropriate action on waived test results.
28. Maintains good working relationship with ED staff and providers.
29. Medical and surgical asepsis is carried out during treatments and special procedures.
30. Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
31. Response to the patient is appropriate in emergency or physically distressful situations.
32. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-services and workshops, shows responsibility for ongoing education.
33. Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
34. Maintains regulatory requirements.
35. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
36. Reports to work on time as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
37. Wears identification while on duty.
38. Regularly attends staff meetings, reads all staff meeting minutes.
39. Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
40. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
41. Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (QI) activities.
42. Completes annual educational requirements including eight (8) hours of orthopedic specific training.
43. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
44. Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
45. Performs other duties as assigned.
46. Demonstrates understanding and adherence to corporate compliance plan.
