JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Credit Analyst works with our Commercial Lenders, Business Bankers, and Private Bankers (“Wholesale Team”) to serve the needs of our commercial and private banking clients. This individual will work with our Wholesale Team to manage existing commercial clients and develop new relationships. As key member within the group, the Senior Credit Analyst ensures all credit information for current and potential borrowers is accurate. The Senior Credit Analyst determines the advisability of granting credit for diversified types of loans and leads the underwriting process of the loan request and ushers the request through the approval process.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
· Analyzes credit data and financial statements of individuals or businesses to identify the degree of risk involved in lending money or extending credit; recommends approval or denial based on their analysis.
o For individuals, performs research to verify employment and income, inspects reports from credit reporting agencies, reviews FICO scores, and prepares DTI ratio worksheet or similar.
o For businesses, preforms in-depth analysis on the borrower’s ability to repay focusing on the company and owner’s background, recent and historical financial performance, cash flow analysis, and current industry trends. Will be exposed to and expected to attain a working knowledge of multiple industries and markets.
· Uses computer software to evaluate customers’ financial status and produce financial ratios.
· Attends client meetings with account officers to improve credit analysis understanding and market/industry information.
· Prepares written narratives and credit approval packages describing borrowers’ current financial condition and future outlook; Presents approval packages within appropriate credit committee with account officer.
· Assists officers with daily credit monitoring tasks and monthly credit review.
· Meets with officers to ensure that our loan underwriting is meeting their needs and expectations.
· Recommends and participates in driving new and improved methods and tools for underwriting loan credits.
· Provides guidance for underwriting methods and processes to other Credit Analysts.
· Works closely and takes a leading role in assisting the Senior Credit Officer, Credit Administration Manager, and Wholesale Team with projects and tasks as needed.
· Performs other work-related duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics required.
· Three to ten (3-10) years’ related credit analyst experience. Knowledge and experience in banking, financial analysis, or a related field is required.
· Working understanding of accounting concepts and how they apply to businesses is required.
· Must have underwriting knowledge and skills for all the different types of loans that would be seen in their respective markets and regions.
· Motivated self-starter and an active learner.
· Must have excellent customer service skills and ability to work well with others and exhibit leadership skills necessary to mentor, teach and guide other credit analysts within the bank
· Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
· Must have strong attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks and balancing multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficient with applicable computer software and Excel financial modeling.
· Must be able to pass background and credit screening process.
