Duties:

  • Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Provides day-to-day environmental compliance support to projects and operations to ensure compliance with environmental permits, policies, procedures and plans; and to meet or exceed project objectives.
    • Attends daily work briefings and interfaces with workers and project management to ensure work is in compliance.
    • Reviews work control documents as needed and attends pre-job walkdowns and document review sessions.
    • Obtains Level 1 training from the State of Tennessee in order to provide twice weekly inspections of erosion and sediment controls when UCOR obtains coverage under the State’s Construction General Permit.
    • Provides monthly inspections required by the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan for ETTP.
    • Conducts surveillance, management assessments, and compliance inspections, as assigned.
    • Supports regulatory agency and DOE-OREM interactions, such as negotiations, inspections, and technical assistance meetings.
    • Prepares or supports preparation and implementation of environmental permits and approvals.
    • Maintains flexibility to change and promote and/or support Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) activities.
    • Utilizes knowledge of chemistry, meteorology, engineering principles and other applied sciences and technologies.
    • Serves as a technical and policy advisor to management and provides supervision on matters relating to environmental remediation, and storage and transportation of waste.
    • Completes work assignments with a high level of personal accountability, teamwork, initiative, and quality.
    • Follows established policies, methods, and practices of the Company.
    • Maintains knowledge of safety policies and procedures and performs assigned duties in a safe manner, and, if supervising others, has responsibility for the safety of those being supervised. 
    • Maintains the qualifications and training needed to perform the job function.
    • Supports spill response and cleanup activities at the site.
    • Attends weekly EC planning and monthly EC team meetings, and performs other EC related tasks, as assigned.

 Job-Related Qualifications Required:

Grade 24

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related science, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Experience: 4+ years of relevant experience required

 

Level Specific Responsibilities: Under limited supervision is responsible for providing mid-level environmental support.   Supports management with environmental issues, provides environmental services and oversight to projects and operations, coordinates projects and operations, interacts with regulators, and assists with setting overall environmental strategies, policies, procedures, and standards.  Ensures projects and operations achieve environmental compliance and stewardship.

 

Grade 25

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related science, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience required

 

Level Specific Responsibilities: Under minimal supervision, is responsible for providing senior-level environmental support.   Supports management with more complex environmental issues, provides environmental services and oversight to projects and operations, coordinates projects and operations, interacts with regulators, and makes recommendations for setting overall environmental strategies, policies, procedures, and standards.  Acts as Subject Matter Expert or Technical Expert as needed and appropriate.   Ensures projects and operations achieve environmental compliance and stewardship.
