About the Department

Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to design, research, plan, coordinate, implement, and support systems and system architectures. Plan technical strategy for the secure growth and change of the enterprise systems including capacity, availability, and continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.

This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Position Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• Documents design specifications, installation instructions, and the other system-related information.
• Provides technical mentoring and guidance for system engineers, project members, and other teams.
• Provides maintenance, support and troubleshooting of systems and system architecture.
• Researches, evaluates, presents solutions, pricing, and total cost of ownership.
• Stays current with technical trends and emerging technology.
• Keeps up-to-date technically and applies new knowledge to job function.
• Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solutions and solve complex problems.
• Communicates effectively and provides information to leadership, supervisors, co-workers and Users by oral or written communication.
• Consults, provides guidance and expert technical advice to management or other groups on technology, processes, and policies.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline.

  • Eight (8) years of experience in a systems engineer or comparable position or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have minimum of 10 years of experience directly supporting Enterprise IT systems.

  • Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.

  • Must complete the annual security awareness training.

  • Must be on 24-hour call.

  • Ability to work on-site or remote and adhere to policy and procedure.

  • Must provide one's own source of transportation.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

  • Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
