STUDENT ASSISTANT EMPLOYEE JOB DESCRIPTION  

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Intramural Sports & Day Camp Coordinator and the Student Games Room Supervisor, the Student Games Room Attendant is responsible for assisting with the overall operations of the Student Recreation Center (SRC) Intramural Games Room to ensure a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment for all patrons.

JOB DUTIES:

·         Assists patrons by providing information and support through direct and remote inquiries

·         Utilizes Games Room software, such as GGLeap, to manage patron and tournament enrollment and track PC usage time

·         Operates equipment such as computer terminals and Q-Systems to control lighting, audio, sound board, and projector functions

·         Monitors and upholds the Games Room’s code of conduct, policies, and procedures

·         Facilitates participant check-ins and issues necessary equipment for game consoles, PCs, and billiards

·         Carries out key holder responsibilities, including managing access to the Games Room facility  

·         Maintains cleanliness and organization of the front desk and surrounding service areas

·         Cleans and maintains video game equipment to ensure proper functionality and presentation

·         Conducts traffic counts at half-hour intervals to monitor facility usage

·         Assists with minor equipment repairs, including but not limited to troubleshooting minor PC issues, maintaining billiard cue sticks, and repairing game console controllers

·         Maintains the Games Room bulletin board with USU-approved marketing materials

·         Manages and oversees SRC Games Room Discord Channel, responding to questions, posting announcements, and monitoring user activity

·         Responds appropriately to a variety of emergency situations, including but not limited to medical emergencies and civil disturbances, and coordinates and/or executes emergency procedures as needed

·         Performs general office duties, including but not limited to greeting visitors, answering phones, developing and maintaining office systems, tracking information and data, typing correspondence, photocopying, scanning, filing, and other related tasks

·         Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

·         Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student

EXPERIENCE

·         No previous experience and/or specialized education required 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

·         Must be able to attend mandatory in-person SRC and USU employee orientation and trainings

·         Must be able to attend monthly mandatory in-person staff meetings

·         This position is a sensitive position as designated by the CSU. Following an offer of employment, the appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. ·         Ability or ability to learn to communicate effectively in writing, including composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation

·         Ability or ability to learn to independently manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adhere to deadlines without immediate supervision

·         Ability to maintain a neat appearance and courteous disposition

SUPERVISION:

Supervision is provided by the Intramural Sports & Day Camp Coordinator and the Student Games Room Supervisor

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Daily contact with members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests, is required. In addition to regularly assigned work schedule, must possess an ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, holidays, finals weeks, and during academic interim and break periods; must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
