Foster Care Homefinder / FAD Caseworker supporting the Glens Falls Region -Fostering Growth for Families & Communities
Your role at BHSN:
BHSN is seeking a passionate and dynamic leader to join our Family Corner Program as a Foster Care Homefinder / FAD Caseworker. This role is the driving force behind recruiting, training, and supporting Therapeutic Foster Parents and Respite Providers - ensuring children and families in our community receive exceptional care and stability. You’ll coordinate the intersection of our Child & Family Respite and Therapeutic Foster Care services while serving as a trusted partner to families, providers, and local agencies.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
A day in the life:
Serve as a key program consultant and back-up to all program staff, providing direct services in the absence of the Family Specialist.
Share 24-hour on-call coverage with program staff.
Conduct intakes for respite children and families—screening, interviewing, and processing applications.
Partner with Clinton, Essex, and Franklin County DSS to coordinate respite and emergency placements.
Provide crisis response, family support, and safety planning in collaboration with referring agencies.
Recruit, screen, train, and certify Therapeutic Foster Parents to deliver specialized care.
Complete in-depth home studies, including safety inspections, background checks, and regulatory clearances.
Maintain compliance with NYS OCFS foster care regulations, including documentation, certification, re-certification, and reporting in the CONNECTIONS system.
Conduct annual reauthorization for Treatment Foster Parents.
Organize and facilitate ongoing trainings and engagement activities for foster and respite providers.
Support program success through additional duties aligned with the position’s scope.
What you bring to the team:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, special education, counseling, or related human services field (required).
Master’s degree preferred with at least 1 year of experience working with children and families.
Bachelor’s degree requires at least 3 years of related experience.
Clearance from NYS Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
Valid NYS driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
