The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Program Instructor for the Parks and Recreation Department. The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. The Town of Clayton also offers a range of PT positions including positions in Parks & Rec, Library, and Cultural Arts.

Position Duties
- Develop curriculum for classes taught.
- Teach classes to youth/teen, adult, seniors, including all set up, take down, and cleaning for these classes.
- Prepare instructional materials and supplies.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations; maintain order in class and report problems to supervisor.
- Notify program/facility management of all equipment needs, safety hazards and class concerns.
- Keep accurate records, including incident/accident reports, time records and daily attendance.
- Stay current on industry standards and their influence on desired outcomes.
- Assist in developing ideas for new class programs in order to meet the needs of the recreational facility and the community.
- Assist with organization of art supplies, equipment, and inventory.
- Interact with parents, students, teachers, and the general public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provide an enthusiastic and fun environment for learning to occur.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:
Individual in this position should possess a working knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation programming; knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Parks and Recreation Department and related state and local laws; possess the ability to develop and implement small scale recreation programs; Individual should possess the ability to work effectively with other staff personnel, community organizations, the general public and special population groups. Individual should possess the skill in organizing a variety of activities including attention to details, deadlines, and proper coordination with others.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Previous experience teaching recreational programs is preferred.

When a salary range is posted, the actual salary will be based on relevant competencies, knowledge, skills & abilities, internal equity and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.
