Position Duties
The Town of Marana is seeking an Environmental Technician or Environmental Specialist to work in the Development Services Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in stormwater compliance, environmental permitting and plan review.

Environmental Technician
Expected Hiring Range: $22.30 - $27.32 per hour
- Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget
Full Salary Range: $22.30 – $32.34 per hour
Environmental Specialist
Expected Hiring Range: $24.31 - $29.78 per hour
- Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget
Salary Range: $24.31 - $35.25 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
- Conducts monthly inspection scheduling, mapping, and inspections for private and public projects as well as inspections of the Towns facilities in coordination with the Environmental Project Manager for the implementation of the Stormwater Management Program; maintains the Town’s post-construction stormwater features database
- Reviews engineering plans, stormwater plans, and technical documents for compliance with environmental, cultural, and stormwater regulations and attends pre-application and pre-construction meetings
- Assists with environmental permitting for Capital Improvement Projects
- Facilitates outreach events for citizens and staff; represents the Town at various environmental meetings
Other Qualifications
ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in natural science, environmental science, engineering or closely related field.
- Over six months experience in stormwater inspections, environmental programs, compliance permitting, or closely related field.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid Arizona Driver License
- Must complete a pre-employment Physical
- Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check
ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in natural science, environmental science, engineering or closely related field.
- Over three years’ experience in stormwater inspections, environmental programs, compliance permitting, or closely related field.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid Arizona Driver License
- Must complete a pre-employment Physical
- Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Specialist
- Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control
