Position Summary: 

The Director for the Behavioral Health and Justice Division (BHJD) is responsible for coordinating all DBHIDS internal units and divisions that provide services to and/or collaborate with the criminal justice system for adults and juveniles to enhance the delivery of behavioral health services within these entities to those struggling with the challenges of recovery and justice system involvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Build and maintain a strong functional team through effective recruiting, training, performance management, coaching, team building and succession planning

· Serve as a member of the Executive Management Staff and the Core Executive Staff.

· Oversee collaboration efforts with Philadelphia Police Department in an effort to transform Behavioral Health services for those in crisis

· Coordinate behavioral health and justice-related service delivery within DBHIDS and across criminal justice systems

· Coordinate, enhance and promote the Forensic Certified Peer Specialist initiative

· Provide leadership to the behavioral health and criminal justice systems to enhance behavioral health care within the criminal justice systems

· Participate in and/or chair multiple steering committees and task forces

· Explicitly connect justice-related system indicators to social determinants of health to improve outcomes for involved parties

· Provide oversight to behavioral health divisions as assigned

· Promote and manage diversity and acceptance within the BHJD Division and with all members and stakeholders by honoring and respecting their individuality, dignity and rights

· Offer suggestions and develop solutions to help promote effective and efficient work processes and innovative programs

· Actively participate in required meetings and complete all mandatory training

· Maintain high levels of advocacy and member confidentiality to ensure the success of DBH and PMHCC, Inc. and our mission

· Assist in assuring both internal and external program integrity by being aware of and reporting suspected instances of provider and employee fraud, waste or abuse

· Understand and integrate the long-term vision of DBHIDS and focus current activities on what is critical to achieve future success including formulating objectives/priorities and developing and implementing breakthrough ideas

· Effectively manage and guide efforts to address challenges and drive continuous improvement for DBHIDS programs, services and processes. Develop and implement effective strategies and appropriate interpersonal styles to influence and guide others

· Recognize and promote the necessity to hire, assess, develop and retain high quality talent. Acknowledge strengths and weaknesses in team members through an ongoing performance management process that provides timely feedback to help them develop and enhance performance

· Supervise Divisional Leadership positions, to include the Deputy Director, Associate Directors, the Justice System Liaison and Director of Training, and the Business Intelligence Team (BIT) Supervisor

Skills Required: 

· Excellent understanding of data analytics to inform intelligent expansion.

· A data first approach to problem solving.

· Familiar with criminal justice system operations and impact on people in recovery

· Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with diverse cultures and demographics

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to utilize computers and office equipment to complete daily work responsibilities

Education and Experience: 

Graduate degree in a field related to behavioral health. At least five years of work experience at the intersection of behavioral health and criminal justice, with a strong preference for individuals familiar with the behavioral health system and criminal justice systems in Philadelphia/Pennsylvania. At least five years of supervisory experience.

Other Job Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record when operating a company/personal vehicle during work hours for work-related activities. Permission to operate a vehicle as part of your job duties will be contingent on your insurability as a driver consistent with PMHCC policy.
