How You Will Help
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to understand specifications.
- Operate and maintain machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment.
- Manufacture, assemble, and test tools, dies, and machine parts to ensure functionality and quality.
- Use precision instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to measure and inspect finished parts.
- Repair or modify existing tools and dies to meet updated specifications or correct defects.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot and optimize tooling processes.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Design and fabricate jigs, fixtures, and gauges to support production and quality assurance processes.
- Conduct trial runs of tools and dies to ensure proper functionality before full-scale production.
- Analyze and resolve tooling issues by modifying designs or machining processes.
- Maintain detailed records of tool and die maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
- Train and mentor junior machinists or apprentices in tool and die practices.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to improve manufacturability and reduce production costs.
- Ensure compliance with ISO and other quality management system standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
- Monitor tool wear and recommend replacements or refurbishments to minimize downtime.
- Assist in the development of preventive maintenance schedules for tooling equipment.
What You Will Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or apprenticeship program in tool and die making preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and using CAD software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
