Software Engineer – Mid-Level
Location: Schriever Space Force Base (SFB), Colorado Springs, CO (On-site only)
Clearance Required: Active Secret (Top Secret/SCI preferred)
Salary Range: $108,000 – $112,000
Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview:

Join the cutting-edge X-Lab team, responsible for developing and integrating future-capability prototypes for the Missile Defense System (MDS). Focus areas include sensor/weapon integration, algorithm development, user interface innovation, and other mission-critical technologies. We are seeking a mid-level Software Engineer with strong technical and communication skills to support prototype integration and development initiatives, particularly in support of C2BMC system evolution.


Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

  • Candidates with non-technical degrees will be considered with substantial software engineering/testing/integration experience


Required Technical Skills:

  • Full-cycle software engineering of new capabilities

  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles to inform software design

  • Proficient in Java (or another object-oriented programming language)

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and development patterns

  • Ability to design and execute detailed, repeatable software tests

  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, prototype-focused environment with evolving requirements


Experience Requirements:

  • Software development experience in Java

  • Hands-on experience with Linux operating environments

  • Proficient in managing and utilizing relational databases

  • Familiarity with software testing, validation, and analysis tools

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills


Desired Skills:

  • Experience with additional object-oriented languages (e.g., Python, C++, C#)

  • Bash or comparable scripting experience

  • Spreadsheet-based data analysis, including Excel and VBA scripting

  • Development and automation of data management and analysis tools

  • Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities

  • Security+ certification (preferred, not required)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate R&D systems into C2BMC and support related X-Lab prototype development efforts

  • Assess prototype performance, analyze track processing outcomes, and evaluate radar/sensor tracks during modeling, simulation, and live flight tests

  • Apply test findings to drive C2BMC system enhancements for future operations

  • Support planning, scheduling, and execution of verification analysis tools

  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate software tools for data analysis and testing

  • Ensure backup and archiving of all test and analysis artifacts

  • Deliver tools in Java, VBA, and related platforms to meet evolving analysis requirements


Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time, on-site position at Schriever Space Force Base

  • Minimal travel may be required

  • Occasional after-hours work may be necessary based on mission needs
