About the Department

We are seeking a part-time Special Populations Program Assistant to support recreational and therapeutic programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This role includes supervising Club Rec twice a week—a program that provides participants with opportunities to socialize, build new skills, and engage in various activities. The Program Assistant will assist in planning and coordinating Club Rec sessions, including developing the monthly activity schedule, distributing it to participants, and maintaining communication with the Special Populations Coordinator to ensure all necessary supplies are available. Additional responsibilities include promoting Special Populations programs within the community, helping recruit and engage volunteers through electronic communication and in-person outreach, and maintaining accurate records of program participants and volunteers. The position requires availability during evenings and weekends, with occasional irregular hours. The Program Assistant will also serve as a chaperone for teams attending out-of-town events and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or GED; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.
