The Staff Accountant role, provides essential Accounts Payable support to the finance department, with an emphasis on accounts payable processing and support. This position is responsible for assisting with financial record keeping, accounts payable, general ledger journal entries and account reconciliations.
Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner is vital to the goals of the entire organization.
- Work closely with Y staff and outside vendors to monitor and process purchase orders and accounts payable, research payments, resolve vendor discrepancies and assist with weekly check runs
- Record journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned
- Work closely with Controller and other Y staff to update and maintain leases information in lease software
- Prepare and submit sales & use tax reports
- Deposit checks and maintain documentation per Y policies and procedures
- Maintain filing systems and records management
- Receive, sort and distribute mail
- Audit support
- Process business license renewals
- Various department administrative tasks and other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
- 1-2 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
- Experience working with Sage Intacct preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as exhibit flexibility, adaptability and ownership
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement
- Customer focused with a service-oriented mindset and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently, under supervision
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
