Are you looking for a great job working for a great company in Napa? Central Valley, one of the North Bay’s largest lumber providers and Best Places to Work, is on the hunt for a Payroll and HRIS Supervisor to implement the daily operations in Human Resources.

  

The Payroll & HR Coordinator supports the Human Resources team by assisting with payroll processing, benefits administration, compliance tracking, and general HR coordination.


The Human Resources team works hard, makes an impact in the business, and has fun making things happen Monday through Friday. 


SUMMARY:

As a HR & Payroll Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. This entry-level position is ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail, a passion for people operations, and a desire to grow in both payroll and HR functions. You’ll assist with payroll processing, benefits administration, compliance tracking, and employee support, while helping to maintain accurate records and ensure smooth HR workflows.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


HR Coordination

  • Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS (e.g., Paylocity)
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding and facilitate orientation sessions
  • Track employee awards, recognition programs, and HR communications
  • Assist with leave of absence tracking and drug screening coordination
  • Support planning of company events and employee engagement initiatives

Payroll Support

  • Assist with biweekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Enter and verify payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, and pay adjustments
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with payroll regulations
  • Support manual check processing and timekeeping system administration


Benefits Administration

  • Assist with benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations
  • Respond to employee questions and support open enrollment activities
  • Track benefit participation and ensure accurate documentation


Compliance & Reporting

  • Track training, certifications, and I-9 compliance
  • Generate reports to support HR and payroll functions


Recruitment & Hiring Support

  • Assist with job postings, application review, and interview scheduling
  • Support hiring managers during onboarding to ensure smooth transitions


Success Factors

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience in payroll, HR coordination, or a related role
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll systems and HRIS platforms (e.g., Paylocity, ADP)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential information
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
