About the Role
As an Accounting Specialist at our cooperative, you’ll play a key role in supporting accurate financial operations and ensuring smooth day-to-day accounting processes. You’ll collaborate with team members across locations, assist with system transitions, and help drive continuous improvement.
What will you do?
· Support location staff with accounting-related questions and training
· Maintain accurate master data within all operating systems
· Serve as a key user and tester during our ERP system transition
· Reconcile general ledger accounts and process journal entries
· Prepare and manage documentation for internal and external audits
· Process daily purchase and sales transactions, including deposits and receivables
· Assist with inventory reconciliation and verify sales tickets
· Create and maintain Power BI reports to support data-driven decisions
· Communicate with customers, vendors, and employees regarding accounting issues
· Ensure compliance with company policies and champion safety practices
· Contribute and support month-end close activities
· Provide cross-training and serve as backup support for team members
· Support various special projects and initiatives as needed
Requirements
· Associate’s degree in accounting or related field, or 2+ years of relevant experience
· Solid understanding of general accounting principles
· Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
· Proficiency in Teams, Microsoft Excel and Outlook; willingness to learn new systems
· Clear written and verbal communication skills
· Problem-solving mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
· Enthusiasm for change and a proactive approach to process enhancements
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and successfully in a remote or hybrid environment
