About the Role
The Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in managing and reporting the financial information of a group of companies within an organization. The position typically requires a strong background in accounting, financial reporting and compliance with local and international accounting standards.
The Financial Accountant has a critical role, being responsible for ensuring the financial health and compliance of the organization. He/she plays a pivotal role in decision-making and long-term financial planning for the group of companies he/she oversees.

Responsibilities
Banking:
Verify payments loaded by bookkeepers and manage banking administration (arranging of corporate cards, new accounts etc.)
Accurate reporting of assets:
Maintain fixed asset registers of all entities. Regularly check in with responsible persons at branches to confirm that assets agree to FAR’s. Ensure that assets are capitalized and written-off in accordance with accounting policies. Ensure that purchase & disposal of assets are communicated with Insurance brokers.
Indirect and direct Tax Compliance:
Assist in tax planning and compliance, including the preparation of tax calculations and ensuring the group's tax obligations are met. Work with outsourced accountants to ensure compliance of all tax types for the group (e.g. provisional tax calculations, VAT reconciliations and review etc.)
Payroll preparation:
Assist HR department with calculations and other information required for payroll or other payroll reporting.
Financial information accuracy and compilation of Financial reports:
Finalise TB’s for all entities (with bookkeepers), Ensure all accounts reconcile and prepare monthly financial reports within deadlines. Do initial budget variance analyses for review by Financial Manager. Calculate consolidated financials eliminating entries and prepare consolidated financial reports.
Deadline planning and management:
Maintain finance team calendar and lead weekly, monthly and annual planning meetings (Deadlines, Renewals etc.)
Annual Financial Statement and audit compliance:
Coordinate and manage the annual audit process for the group. Ensure the timely completion of audit requirements and address any audit findings. Assist Financial Manager with review of Annual financial Statements and tax returns.
Budget & Forecasting preparations:
Assist with financial information needed to prepare budgets and financial forecasts for the group.
Financial Analysis:
Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities and areas of concern. Provide management with insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
Financial System maintenance and improvements:
Streamline and enhance financial reporting systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy.
Inventory reconciliations:
Ensure all entities perform stock takes in line with company policy and reconcile actual counts to accounting software.
Group reconciliations:
Allocate and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances within the group, ensuring accurate accounting and compliance with transfer pricing regulations and relevant group agreements or financial policies.
Internal control preparations:
Assist Financial Manager with development and maintenance of robust internal controls to safeguard the group's assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
Exchange control / SARB compliance assistance:
Assist bookkeepers with declarations of inward and outward foreign payments. Assist Financial Manager with ensuring exchange control approvals are renewed, reports required for renewal process etc.
Team Lead:
Lead a team of bookkeepers (task management and delegation, performance monitoring, team coordinating and support)
Ad-hoc:
Contribute to and lead special financial projects as required, which may include process improvements, systems upgrades, or cost-saving initiatives etc.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Financial management
- Knowledgeable in of Financial reporting (IFRS for SME’s), Audit, Taxation, payroll
- 4+ Years experience
