FIFA27 will be established as the Local FIFA Subsidiary in Brazil, to work together with FIFA HQ in Zurich and globally, to deliver the biggest women’s sporting event in the world, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ (“FWWC2027”).

THE POSITION

Reporting organizationally to Director Special Events & Entertainment, the Head of Special Events will be a key member of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™ Team, working in close collaboration with the FIFA Zurich Project Team and other key stakeholders. The role is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and overall management of FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™-related events, including Official Dinners and other ancillary events, the Mascot Launch, the FWWC27 Final Draw, the FIFA Fan Festivals, and the Host Country Trophy Tour - ensuring world-class delivery across all initiatives, while overseeing budget management, team leadership, stakeholders’ coordination, creative initiative and logistics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and manage the strategic planning, development, and execution of the FIFA Special Events (including the Draw, social events and dinners and other side events), FIFA Fan Festival and Host Country Trophy Tour together with the relevant stakeholders and in alignment with the overall objectives and vision of FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™.
  • Oversee all operational aspects management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and procurement, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of all events and activities.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to a team of event professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies, incorporating innovative and immersive trends to create memorable experiences and creative concepts across all FIFA Special Events, Fan Festival and Host Country Trophy Tour.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to FIFA, Host Cities, Sponsors, and partners, to maximize the event’s impact and create synergies with other FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™ initiatives.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts, negotiating terms and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services in line with quality standards and budget requirements.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the Host Cities, local authorities, agencies, and community organizations to ensure compliance with regulations, obtain necessary permits, and manage logistical challenges.
  • Oversee the development and execution of the Fan Festival's and Trophy Tour’s marketing and communication plans in consideration of the overall FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027™ Marketing and Communications Strategy, working closely with the marketing team to drive awareness, engagement, and attendance across all platforms.
  • Oversee the successful planning, execution and implementation of all FIFA Special Events, Fan Festival and Host Country Trophy Tour at high quality standards, providing regular status updates to all parties involved.
  • Ensure all logistical aspects of events are planned and executed, including but not limited, to venue management, supplier coordination and alignment with relevant Functional Areas as required.
  • Implement comprehensive safety and security protocols, coordinating with relevant agencies and implementing risk management strategies to safeguard attendees and protect the events’ reputations.
  • Analyse and monitor key performance indicators, stakeholders’ feedback, and market trends to assess the success of the events and identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, providing updates across all Special Events initiatives (Dinners and other official events, Fan Festival and Trophy Tours) progress, outcomes, and financial performance. 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Master’s Degree or similar level of education in Marketing, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of work experience in large scale international event management, preferably within the sports sector.
  • Proven track of management complex event portofolios with multiple stakeholders
  • Strongly detail-oriented and flexible.
  • Experience working with international teams.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure across multiple event sites.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools.
  • Right to work in Brazil. 
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Fluent in Portuguese (spoken and written)
  • Spanish, French, German or other additional languages are beneficial.
  • Ability to re-locate to Rio de Janeiro.
