We are looking for a Backend Technical Lead with 8+ years of experience in backend engineering and proven success in leading cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is a senior engineer with deep expertise in Fast API, Python and API development, and a strong track record of delivering scalable backend systems.
As a Tech Lead, the candidate will not only guide the technical architecture and development but also take ownership of project delivery, team performance, and stakeholder alignment. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance technical depth with people and process leadership.
Responsibilities:Technical Leadership & Delivery
Own the end-to-end technical delivery of backend services and APIs, ensuring high quality, performance, and scalability.
Design and architect secure and reliable RESTful APIs and backend components, using FastAPI.
Enforce and evangelize best practices around coding, testing, performance optimization, and documentation.
Drive adoption of CI/CD pipelines, code quality standards, and system observability.
Team Management
Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers; conduct regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback, and support career growth.
Allocate tasks based on skill sets, project needs, and development velocity.
Facilitate sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and ensure the team consistently meets sprint goals.
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and collaboration.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with product managers, architects, QA, DevOps, and front-end teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders on progress, risks, and design decisions.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for backend deliverables.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of hands-on experience in backend development with Python.
Proven experience designing and delivering production-grade RESTful APIs.
Expertise with Flask, FastAPI (preferred), or equivalent web frameworks.
Solid knowledge of system design principles, API security (OAuth2, JWT), and distributed systems.
Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
Proficient with Docker and modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Experience managing agile teams, sprint cycles, and engineering deliverables.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
Experience in telco, finance, or other data-sensitive, high-throughput domains.
Familiarity with asynchronous programming, messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ), or microservices.
Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) and DevOps tooling.
Prior experience in a vendor or client-service delivery model is a strong plus.
