We are currently seeking energetic, reliable, and hands-on individual to join our laboratory. The Laboratory Technician plays a key role in our quality assurance program, responsible for conducting a wide range of chemical and analytical tests on wine and packaging materials. Working with both simple and advanced laboratory equipment, the Laboratory Technician ensures accurate results that support production, winemaking, and compliance standards.

This is a part time contract role that is anticipated to end in November.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and collect product and packaging samples for testing.
  • Prioritize and perform a variety of chemical and analytical tests using established methods and laboratory equipment.
  • Accurately record all test results in hardcopy logs and/or computer system for traceability and adherence to ISO standards.
  • Identify non-conformances and communicate results promptly to management, production supervisors, or winemakers.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and operate a wide range of laboratory equipment and test apparatus.
  • Monitor and analyze trends to proactively identify and correct potential errors or equipment drift before it impacts results.
  • Safely handle, store, and track laboratory chemicals and consumables.
  • Prepare custom chemical solutions to specific concentrations as required by test protocols.
  • Ensure laboratory stock is maintained by sourcing, ordering, and replenishing supplies from reputable vendors.
  • Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure a safe and compliant lab environment.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in chemistry, food science, biology, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a high-volume routine laboratory testing environment.
  • Previous lab experience in a winery, food production, or manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment and computer systems, including data entry and report generation.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, HACCP, Continuous Improvement, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
