We are recruiting a Product Development Chemist to join our team in Pocklington near York to work closely with our Production and Agronomy Departments to develop novel plant nutrition and biostimulant formulations.
This position will spend time physically on the Howden production site in addition to the Product Development Laboratory in Pocklington.

Responsibilities
- Carry out research and laboratory investigations to develop new product formulations
- Collaborate with international Yara R&D colleagues on new development projects
- Align product development with applications in glasshouse and agronomic fields trials
- Progress new formulations from lab scale to full production
- Technical and process development support to production operations
- Maintain records in accordance with ISO9001 and knowledge of ISO14001/45001 procedures
- Evaluation of new raw materials for use in current formulations
- Research of novel raw materials to include in new formualtions
- Increasing company intellectual property through the patenting of novel formulations
- Staying informed of new relevant literature and patent publications to apply that knowledge to developing new product
Profile
- Degree in Chemistry or a closely related subject
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in chemical laboratory.
- Experience of working in an industrial chemical production facility is desirable.
- Good IT and communication skills
- High level of safety awareness and sound understanding of relevant regulations, e.g. COSHH, COMAH etc
- Experience in formulation or inorganic chemistry would be a distinct advantage as would familiarity with ISO9001.
- Knowledge of regulatory environments in to which new products will be placed
