Key Responsibilities
- Define technical vision and strategy for engineering projects.
- Lead large-scale, complex projects with high business impact.
- Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance across teams and departments.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies and methodologies.
- Establish best practices, standards, and long-term technical goals.
- Work closely with executive leadership to align engineering goals with business objectives.
- Full compliance with the DeterTech stage/gate development process.
- Degree qualification within a suitable discipline, masters is a bonus.
- 10+ years of engineering experience with a track record of leadership.
- Deep expertise in engineering principles, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
- Strong ability to influence technical direction at an organizational level.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing engineering talent.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven experience in product lifecycle design and support within an electronics team setting.
- Comfortable working within a disciplined and process driven development environment.
- Hands on experience and knowledge of the compliance landscape, including EMC etc.
- Safety by design mindset, with working knowledge of tools such as DFMEA.
- Practical experience applying disciplined problem-solving tools and process, such as 8D.
- Competent with Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Ability to present and explain electronic product and system designs to colleagues, management, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in creating detailed drawings, schematics, and models using design software.
- Experience with reviewing and releasing schematics, PCB capture, and assembly drawings to manufacturers.
- Hands-on experience designing and building electronic components and circuits.
- Experience with camera-based applications / computer vision and other sensing technologies.
- Proficient understanding of software and ability to work with software tools (e.g., flashing/debugging tools).
- Ability to prepare cost estimates for products and technical solutions.
- Experience in defining and performing verification & validation activities, including simulation, worst-case analysis, and bench testing.
- Strong testing and diagnostic skills to drive product improvements.
