Position Summary:

 

The Director, RCM Radiation and Medical Oncology Services, will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end revenue cycle operations for Oncology services, including Radiation and Medical Oncology.

This position will lead the RCM functions of eligibility, benefits, pre-certification, patient estimates, financial counseling (pre-collections), funding, and accounts receivable related specifically to Radiation and Medical Oncology services. The Director will also serve as the primary RCM liaison to oncology-facing partners.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Revenue Cycle Leadership – Oncology Services

  • Oversee all RCM functions specific to Radiation and Medical Oncology, including:
    • Insurance eligibility verification
    • Benefit investigations and documentation
    • Payer medical necessity guidelines and preferred drug usage
    • Drug reconciliation processes: Pre-certification and authorization management
    • Patient cost estimates and financial counseling
    • Pre-collections
    • Funding coordination
    • Accounts receivable  management and denial follow-up
  • Develop and implement oncology-specific RCM workflows that align with payer requirements, internal policies, and compliance standards.
  • Serve as the practice-facing RCM leader for  Radiation and Medical Oncology providers, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration across systems and teams.
  • Establish KPIs and monitor RCM performance metrics across all Oncology revenue cycle functions; drive improvement plans where needed.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical operations, finance, and executive leadership to ensure revenue integrity and process alignment.

 

Collaboration & Partnership

  • Partner with the other  RCM leadership to align practices, share knowledge, and ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Maintain open communication with physician leaders, front-end teams, and external partners to proactively resolve revenue cycle issues.
  • Ensure internal teams are educated on payer guidelines, documentation requirements, and reimbursement changes impacting Oncology services.

 

Compliance & Optimization

  • Ensure all Oncology revenue cycle functions operate in accordance with federal and state regulations, payer rules, and organizational policies.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes, systems, and technologies to enhance revenue capture, billing efficiency, and patient experience.
  • Provide leadership during audits, compliance reviews, and payer escalations related to Oncology services.
  • Ensure internal teams are educated on payer guidelines, documentation requirements, and reimbursement changes impacting Oncology services.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, business, or another related field, or equivalent required.  
  • Five (5) years of management experience with progressive experience in dealing and negotiating contracts, medical billing, and credentialing.
  • Experience with Radiation and Medical Oncology service lines. Including medical necessity guidelines, payer coverage guidelines, authorization processes, financial assistance through funding, financial counseling, and denial management.
  • Experience in the revenue cycle management of a multi-site healthcare delivery system, including ambulatory surgical centers. 
  • A successful track record of collaborative leadership of a management team to achieve strategic objectives, as well as to ensure quality services and compliance with relevant contractual and regulatory requirements.

Tech Requirements for the Job:

 

  • High-speed, reliable internet connection to ensure uninterrupted communication and access to necessary systems and tools.
  • Quiet and private work environment to maintain the confidentiality of patient information and minimize background noise during calls.
  • Proficiency in using remote collaboration tools, such as video conferencing software, instant messaging platforms, and customer relationship management systems.
  • Compliance with all security and privacy policies and protocols, including safeguarding patient information and maintaining HIPAA compliance.

 

Direct Reports:

 

Leaders overseeing EVBV, Pre-Auth, and Financial Counseling, as well as AR leadership.

 

Travel:

 

  • Must have the ability & willingness to travel to other sites as necessary within a geographic region.

 

Physical Requirements for the Job:

 

  • Regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Involves standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and twisting.
  • Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 lbs.
