This role is remote but begins as a hybrid position for training, which lasts approximately three months.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 am - 4 pm
What you’ll do:
As the Development Director, you’ll be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of philanthropic initiatives directly aligned with Unity’s strategic plan. This individual will represent Unity within the communities we serve, with a main goal of building and strengthening relationships to achieve philanthropy goals. This position is a member of the Operations Leadership Team with shared responsibility for company performance.
Position Responsibilities:
· Role model Unity’s values across all working situations
· Work closely with the Executive Director to establish and achieve philanthropy goals that reflect and support Unity’s strategic growth plan
· Maintain current knowledge of Unity’s services and programs
· Responsible for all philanthropy initiatives, including gift solicitations, grant requests, annual appeals, events, and resale shoppes
· Assume full responsibility for leadership and development of the team, including onboarding, coaching, and performance management
· Research, assess and recommend philanthropy initiatives to expand Unity’s exposure to potential donors
· Work with the Executive Assistant who oversees the donor database to ensure accurate and timely solicitation and acknowledgement of contributions, as well as creation of meaningful reports
· Identify, build, and steward relationships with families, community, civic, and corporate leaders as an integral part of donor prospect development and engagement
· Responsible for oversight of departmental policies and procedures
· Engage with leadership members to facilitate operational cross-department communication and collaboration, resulting in timely, accurate, positive, respectful, and strategic decision making
· Develop annual budget and department operating plan & timeline.
· Monthly analysis of financial performance with the development of respective action plans.
· Work in collaboration with other departments to provide support to internal and external customers
· Encourage, educate, and facilitate the integration of quality, resource management, customer service, and empowerment concepts into daily work routine
· Promote Unity in the community through professional organization membership, speaking engagements, external marketing, networking, etc.
· Participate in organizational and community committees as requested and appropriate

Requirements
What you’ll bring:
· Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent experience
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in non-profit fund development, capital campaigns, donor relations
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in development team leadership
· Experience in public relations and/or marketing preferred
· Demonstrated success in fundraising across numerous platforms, including gift solicitations, annual appeals, events, and planned giving.
· Proven experience in grant writing
· Experience in strategic planning and execution
· Financial acumen in establishing and maintaining a budget
· Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance coverage
