THE ROLE
Position: Senior Sales Manager
Reports To: Director of Sales and Marketing
PROPERTY OVERVIEW
Cloudland at McLemore Resort is a new Curio Collection by Hilton hotel set on the cliff-edge atop Lookout Mountain, GA. The 245 room hotel includes over 20,000 sq. ft. of beautifully appointed meeting space, most with floor to ceiling windows overlooking McLemore Cove. Four onsite restaurants and a clubhouse restaurant, a relaxing spa and infinity cliffside pool along with hiking trails and two world class golf courses round out the experience for guests and groups.
POSITION PROFILE
Responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in the assigned markets. Represents the hotel in the development of market segment(s) and new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships with assigned accounts while consistently striving to maximize revenue in rooms, public space, food and beverage and ancillary products and services. Actively solicit, respond to and negotiate with persons requiring large and complex group accommodations with or without meeting space and/or on-site (hotel) catering, based upon market segment and account files assigned by the Director of Sales. Represent hotel in significant interactions dealing with customers relative to sales and operational questions, concerns, and issues. Negotiate contracts with customers and commission agreements with third party agencies. Our ideal candidate has prior resort sales experience and strong industry connections with a dedicated customer base ready to visit Cloudland. Role may have the opportunity to work remotely if located in Atlanta, Birmingham, or Nashville.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
- Effectively prospect for new business in assigned territory, by identifying prospects and customers through active outbound communication via phone, email and in person where necessary.
- Identify business opportunities by being aware of prospective clients and evaluating their position in the marketplace to leverage the sales relationship to maximize revenue.
- Target high revenue sales calls to ensure successful direct sales program, in accordance with goals established.
- Attend out of town trade shows or conventions as needed to represent Cloudland at McLemore to identify new group customers.
- Provide timely, accurate, competitive proposals and pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
- Exhibit a positive and involved team attitude to all hotel departments and maintain open communication with all co-workers and managers for the best overall performance of the hotel.
- Actively solicit new and existing business to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communications.
- Follow up on all business inquiries and leads in a highly timely basis to generate room nights and associated revenue.
- Understand and utilize the sales tools the company provides and follow and support all sales and marketing operating systems. Ability to sell all hotel products and services including golf.
- Complete a pre-determined number of new key prospecting calls per week, while maintaining and improving customer database.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and direct sales goals.
- Host guest site inspections to uncover needs and present solutions that will maximize booking opportunities and create strong customer relationships. In the case of remote sellers, site visits should be conducted in person at the resort.
- Create VIP or Group resumes identifying and communicating traveler’s needs and act as liaison to ensure all operational aspects of their stay are met.
- Review daily arrivals to isolate potential new clients.
- Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the Directors or management of the Hotel.
- Champion a hospitable culture that promotes a healthy and productive format of serving others with excellence.
- Develop customer profiles and maintain an effective trace system, including trace dates and references, to best meet client needs, resulting in superior account service and increased revenues.
- Schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.
- Maintain well-documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file management system to serve client and employer in the most expedient, organized, and knowledgeable manner.
- Develop strong customer relationships through frequent communication and the use of professional, courteous and ethical interpersonal interaction.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products and services to include marketing strategy, sales techniques, and tactics to capitalize on profit margins.
- Develop customer profiles and maintain an effective trace system, including trace dates and references, to best meet client needs, resulting in superior account service and increased revenues.
- Promptly follow-up on all customer needs and inquiries in an efficient and expedient manner.
- Focus on revenue-producing activity and selling time by a strategic plan that maximizes direct sales efforts.
- Achieve activity goals as established by management and complete all reports and assignments in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Develop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand in the local community.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Education: Two to four-year college degree
Experience: Minimum of 8 years hotel sales experience required
Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform critical analysis and manage wide-range of information. Excellent oral, written and presentation skills sufficient to produce sales and marketing communication that properly reflect the Cloudland at McLemore brand. Listen effectively. Ability to delegate, manage manpower and organize complex projects and establishes priorities consistent with department/hotel objectives. Experience with Delphi/Amadeus, Cvent, Cendyn, and Microsoft office suite of services preferred. Experience selling golf resorts and Hilton OnQ experience is a plus.
