Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC TITLE 32 PERMANENT, Position Description Number D1356000 and is part of the NH 157th Maintenance Group, National Guard. Major Duties:
- The purpose of this position is to serve as shop chief over a small organizational segment in a maintenance function with responsibility for the overall shop operation. One or more employees who perform work in the Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic, WG-8268-10, occupation are assigned to the shop. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the technician and lower graded mechanic(s). Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures. Estimates time, equipment and material requirements. Devises and maintains plans and records. May provide recommendations and input to supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, and leave. Performs the full range of shop work. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned. RESPONSIBILITY: Provides general instructions, time frames, policies, and priorities; is available for technical guidance and assistance on unusual or controversial problems; and relies on the incumbent to control work operations and accomplish adequate quantity and quality of work. Incumbent determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Work is reviewed for efficient and economical accomplishment within priorities and control received.
Qualifications: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is a Title 32 excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Military Grades: E6 to E7 Selectee(s) must be within the military grade(s) listed in this job announcement prior to the effective date of placement into the technician position. Compatible Military Assignments: 2A6XX GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the experience and training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work? SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have the knowledge and experience demonstrating the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related to the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. Ability to guide others in work related directly to this occupational series. Experience and training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil, and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
