The primary purpose of this position is: Serve as Executive Assistant for the Senior Ranking AFRC Commander at Patrick AFB, FL. This position is part of the 920th RQW Command Section with a full-time commander as well as vice commander position. Plan & coordinate administrative functions & provides information, assistance & advice regarding official functions of the org.

Major Duties:

  • Work in a Total Force Enterprise (TFE) stand-alone wing environment as executive assistant for the only Personnel Recovery organization element within Air Force Reserve Command. Act as interface with military, governmental and private sector organizations for visits and matters on protocol, coordinating protocol issues arising from official functions. Serves as Administrative Support Specialist for the Commander (920 RQW/CC). Responsible for the day-to-day management of security, travel administration, internal controls human resource management, and other administrative support for the Commander, Vice Commander, Command Chief and other command staff admin positions. Performs a wide variety of office management duties. Develops comprehensive plans and strategies for the internal and external integration of the day-to-day and long range calendar, assignments, actions and activities requiring the involvement of the Commander, Vice Commander, and Command Chief.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes (1) working with policies, procedures, methods and regulations of protocol and interpersonal relations practices; (2) working with administration procedures and the ability to interpret and apply moderately complex directives and instructions; (3) working with standard office administrative procedures and practices required to ensure planning, organizing, and coordinating workload and to meet suspense deadlines; (4) skill in using standard office equipment and peripherals, i.e., typewriters, computers, printers, and scanners to produce a variety of documents, such as memorandums, spreadsheets, database, and briefing/graphic presentations. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Less than the full amount of specialized experience described in the job opportunity announcement; however, and have at least one year of progressively higher level graduate education, but have not obtained a master's or equivalent graduate degree. Therefore, have a combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to identify and resolve procedural issues and problems related to program area of responsibility. Knowledge of the protocol regulations, procedures, and instructions that apply to military and civilian leaders. Knowledge of management principles, and techniques of analysis and evaluation, analyses and recommends solutions to problems in staffing and administrative procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and effectively plan, organize, and coordinate office administration workloads and to meet suspense deadlines. Ability to apply security, travel, personnel, budget and supply regulations, procedures and practices to the requirements of the office. Ability to deal with very sensitive issues and handle them with discretion. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
